Frequently asked questions

What people ask us

Do I need a minimum certification level?

For liveaboards in areas with currents (the Galápagos, Komodo, Tubbataha) we require at minimum Advanced Open Water and 50 logged dives. For resorts with a dive centre, Open Water is enough.

Which is the best destination for beginner-level divers?

The Maldives (northern and central atolls), Soneva Fushi and the resorts with a dive centre in calm waters. Belize is also excellent for beginners.

Are whale sharks guaranteed?

In season (May-September in the southern Maldives, June-September in Ningaloo), the odds are above 80% across a full week. There is no absolute guarantee — it is nature.

And what about the non-divers in the group?

Resorts with a dive centre also have a programme of guided snorkelling, kayak, paddleboard and marine biologists for species identification. A good fit for mixed couples.
